Aunty Mary

Born on the island of Kauai, Aunty Mary Kaipo Malama Serrao and her family moved to the island of O‘ahu after World War II. As a teenager, she spent her summers working as a packer at Del Monte Pineapple Co. After graduating from McKinley High School and Cannon Business School, she began her career with the federal government. She retired after 30 years of service in 1990.

Since then, she has been able to focus her attention on her family and her community. Aunty Mary co-founded the Pu‘uloa Outrigger Canoe Club, and today serves as Senior Past President/Ex-Officio and Chair of the club. She is also a member of the ‘Ewa-Pu‘uloa Hawaiian Civic Club.

Aunty Mary serves as Vice President of the Hoakalei Cultural Foundation's board of directors.
